Ipe balcony Sehn
We had the pleasure of designing and building this large Ipe balcony in Montreal for the Sehn family. Ipe wood is undoubtedly the best natural material that can be used for the floor and the stairs of any balcony or deck. Ipe is one of the most dense timber on hearth (it’s a wood so dense that it does not float on water), it has no knots and is full of natural beauty.
To maximize the view of the river, we installed tempered glass panels in the front railings of the balcony. The side rails have brushed aluminum bars. To allow light to enter a dark room in the basement, we have incorporated plexiglass panels in the balcony floor above these windows.
Two large watertight storage spaces are located under one end of the balcony and under the middle platform of the stairs.
